A charter amendment passed in 2003
created the Landmarks Preservation
Commission which can hold up the
demolition of a landmark (century home,
cemetary, church, school, etc.) WHICH
IS ON AVON'S LIST, created by Steve
McQuillin, a professional preservationist.
owner can demolish it immediately. The
6-month waiting period allows interested
citizens to become aware of the pending
demolition and maybe do something
about it. Ron Larson has offered to move
the Avon Center School to Olde Avon
Village, for which we are thankful.
