I first learned of my people's atrocities when I came to live in Taipei. I was greatly shocked, because the government forbade writers to mention our past crimes in history textbooks. I feel really bad whenever I think about the Nanking Massacre, Comfort Women and other crimes against humanity. I just wish that these brutal events will never happen again.
Last of all, I want to apologize for my people's cruelty during the war, the pain that we have caused the victims, and our refusal to acknowledge the responsibilities.
Sincerely,
Kumiko
