You should change it, cause the links could stretch a bit after so many miles, but it's really not necessary to do. I had a 1990 chevy corsica I ran that thing into the ground, never had to put a chain in it.
: I recently purchased a 1996 Chevy
: Cavalier Z-24 with the 2.4 dual
: overhead cam 4 cylinder. The vehicle
: has 115,000 miles on it and according
: to my Haynes manual has a chain
: driving the dual cams instead of the
: usual belt. My question is: does
: anyone know when the cam chain should
: be changed ? I can't find anything
: in the owner's manual or the repair
: manual as far as a guideline. I
: haven't contacted a repair shop or a
: dealer yet as am sceptical to what
: they would say. Car seems to run
: fine and if it's not neccessary I
: will probably put it off for a while.
: Would imagine it's several hundred
: dollars to replace. Thanks.
