I spoke to the Assistant Service Manager at a Chevy dealership who told me the cost to check out an intermittent problem with the horn would cost $140.00 just for the diagnostic test. I asked if it could be just the fuse if it is an intermittent problem. He said, "No." I would like to try to replace the fuse myself since the horn is not working at all now. I have a trust issue with service departments and wonder if the diagnostic test is really necessary and if they would charge me for it regardless of the work they had to perform to fix it.
I need to go through Motor Vehicle Inspection this month and can't pass with the horn not working. The right side view mirror was just broken, too, by a runaway shopping cart, so that has to be fixed also.
I don't remember seeing the fuse types listed in my manual. Where might I find the right fuse and the actual fuse box location? Any suggestions on the replacement for a mirror? (The ASM said the whole mirror body might have to be replaced because certain older model Malibus don't have the option just to buy the mirror!!!)
