I grew up in the east and midwest and had access to wonderful bakery's. I have lived in the northwest for 22 years without finding any bakery that has the quality of those where I've lived in the past.
I just loved a coffee cake called a "Meltaway". I'm sure it is a yeast dough with large cake like crumbs on top, ( not a streusel crumb topping ). Then a powdered sugar icing drizzled to top it off. It actually melts in your mouth.
It may be a German or Italian recipe. I have found bakery's on line in the east who sell them, but I would love to make them myself. Please help!
