Then add the egg/butter/milk mixture to the flour mixture. Combine to form a soft, but not tacky, dough. For each dumpling: Boil water. Drop by wooden spoon. Stir slowly - not to injure dough. Plum Dumplings
1-1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbl. melted butter
2-3 tbl. milk
Melted butter
Sugar
Beat egg, butter and milk together.
Tear off a small piece (about the size of a heaping tablespoon. Roll out, add a plum and wrap. Squeeze with fingertips. Roll in palm of hand to even up dough around the plum.
Drizzle melted butter.
Sprinkle with sugar (optional).
