Too many schools want to get free or cheap labor from new ATC's. Paying an ATC 5k a year is a lot cheaper than hiring a full time career employee. This is fine for the new ATC looking for experience, but at some point ATC's have to get out of school and make a living. With the current system, ATC career type employment is extremely competitive and is only going to get worse unless significant changes are made. A good place to start would be to limit the number of graduate assistants allowed in ATC education programs. just my 2 cents.........
