Posted by Joe Lemery With regards to too many ATCs too many jobs, I agree. It's going to be nearly impossible to find work out there that will compensate us what we deserve because there will always be some new student trainer fresh off their test and graduation ready to accept any job. Then they burn out after two years and the cycle will repeat. I love this job...but those ATC's out there who really care about this profession and care about being good at it need to step up, band together and think of a way save our profession.

I completely believe that by taking the internship route, I became a better ATC. However, I was a product of what I think was a fine school with a caring staff the for the most part, genuinely wanted us to be good ATC's. I also agree with what you have stated, that some internship schools are a joke and the how good you are is dependent upon how hard you work on your own.
