The Bible records several important events that took place in October during the earthly life of Jesus Christ. Below is a list of some of these events.
October 5 B.C.
The Magi, a few weeks after Christ is born, arrive in Jerusalem looking for Jesus whom they wish to worship. After consulting with Herod the Great they learn that the Lord's birth was prophesied to occur in Bethlehem (Matthew 2).
Jesus is presented at Jerusalem's temple by Mary and Joseph after which they travel back to Bethlehem (Luke 2).
The Magi, after discovering where the Lord is located in Bethlehem, worship him and leave gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh (Matthew 2).
October 26 A.D.
From September 11 to October 20 the Lord is tempted every day by Satan the devil.
Jesus, after his temptation, travels to Bethabara and makes initial contact with John, Andrew, Peter, Philip and Nathanael who will become some of his disciples (John 1).
October 29 A.D.
Jesus secretly travels to Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Tabernacles (John 7:10). In the middle of the Feast he suddenly appears at Jerusalem's temple and chastises the Jews for not keeping God's laws. He also confirms that all that he has taught has come directly from God the Father (John 7:14 - 29).
During the morning portion of the Last Great Day (October 18), the Lord loudly proclaims the following for everyone to hear at the temple.
"If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. The one who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water" (John 7:37 - 38).
Officers dispatched by the chief priests and the Pharisees, with orders to arrest Christ, return empty-handed. They tell the Jewish religious leaders they couldn't arrest him because "Never has a man spoken like this man" (John 7:45 - 47).
A Pharisee named Nicodemus tries in vain to defend Christ before the Jewish religious leaders (verses 40 - 53).
