The British Interstellar Agency have identified the site where an alien spacecraft landed early this morning. The place, named as Paducah is situated in N.America. Obviously only someone with a sense of humor would call somewhere or something Paducah and the agency are looking into a possible misspelling of the site.

Bob,
You had me puzzled there for a moment.
Happy April Fool's Day to you, too.
For what it's worth, Paducah is in Kentucky, which is an odd name itself. You'll find many a peculiar place name over here, without a doubt. I grew up near a town named Hell. Nice enough place although in winter it got as cold as, well, you know. People kept stealing the signs outside of town.
You Brits have some pretty interesting place names too: Puddington, Crinkley Bottom, Wookie Hole, Upper and Lower Dicker, Pratt's Bottom, Feckenham, Bell End, Tiptree, and Bishops Itchington. I don't know whether I would admit to being from Pratt's Bottom. One could go on ...
I guess I'm easily amused.

Place names can be a very interesting subject. I lived in Alaska for 36 years and it took a while to get used to these place names: Atlasta House, Chicken, Coldfoot, Deadhorse, Dogpatch, Nightmule, Sleetmute. To name a few. What would be more interesting would be the origin of the names. As for aliens... that is a another subject. John Haynes
