Help please!! my late father Joseph Leroy Eastwood was a member of the Naval Armed Guard. I'm putting together a tribute to him as part of our family tree. I'm looking for any shipmates or class photos of his gun crew or basic navy class. His basic training was at Great Lakes Ill; 2/2/43 to 4/29/43. Naval Gunnery school Gulfport, Miss 4/30/43 to 5/27/43. Home base Brooklyn, NY from 5/29/43 to 5/11/45. His Muster Card has been some help as far as his ships and the Atlantic Ocean convoys. He served on the O.M. Bernuth (tanker) from May 31, 1943 to around March or April 1944. He end up on the USS Flusser from 3/17/44 to 4/30/44. It appears he was either part of a relief crew or taking the ship for repairs I'm not sure which. SS Philip F. Thomas, 5/1944 to 5/1945. SS Huntington Hills 7/1/45 (transfer ed to Pacific center 5/45)and went to Pearl. I cant find any info on his Pacific tour or other ships he was on. He specifically mentioned a corvette but it doesn't appear anywhere. Any photos, leads on where to look would be greatly appreciated.I have spent hour after hour researching his ship history but if anyone has any other suggestions or where to look I would be very grateful.
Working on a tribute to my dad and need some info on the SS Antigua. I have records showing the ship departing Pearl around 7/17/45. I next show the ship in the Port of Auchland on 8/19/45. Can anyone tell where the ship went in between these dates and until around 10/1/45. Thanks

We have tried to scan the whole photo but it was a little too long. We hope this photo may show your family member. I hope we are able to asttach the scan to this e-mail. It seems there is no way to put the attachment of this communication. We would be pleased to email what we have to you, but what is the e-mail address?

Tom,
Go to the EXCELLENT website ConvoyWeb and do a "Ship Search" at http://www.convoyweb.org.uk/hague/index.html for the name of the ship(s) in question. It will show the whereabouts of a ship, assuming it is their database, by location, date, originating and destination ports. There will be no information on the crew. ConvoyWeb is not as complete for ship movements in the Pacific as in the Atlantic and Mediterranean but you may find something.

Thank you so much for your help this is the one ship I had very little info on. Would you happen to know where I could go for copies of graduating classes from the armed guard school in Great Lakes Il. i went to their web site but couldn't find any place to look for class photos. Thanks again for the info you have provided.
