While driving home from Ohio to Indy on I-70, I called Roy Brown who lives in Richmond, IN and we met for coffee and to get acquainted. I had talked with Roy on several occasions and we had exchanged books about our Naval Armed Guard voyages; his “Jig How” and my “Frozen Fury”, but we had never met. I don’t remember when I have enjoyed a visit as much as this short one. It was almost like we were teenage seamen again getting ready to weigh anchor for another convoy mission. The visit was all too short, but we agreed to get together again soon and spend more time reminiscing. I look forward to it Roy. John Haynes

John Haynes I live in Mechanicsburg Ohio. I spent 21/2 years in the Armed Guard 1943 to 1946. Two trips across the Pacific. I would like to buy one of your books. And if you get any where near here I would like to meet some one who did Murmansk. I just missed it. Please advise how we can do the book.

John, you old seadog! I, too, enjoyed meeting you and your lovely wife Juanita. As soon as the weather gets warm Mary and I will try to venture out to INDY. The cold is really bad for my muscle problems (Polymyalgia). It and several other things cause extreme pain. God willing we WILL get together before long. To you other swabjockeys: John has REALLY been around this old planet in addition to his Armed Guard service. You all should read his book called "Frozen Fury". It is fantastic. I'm glad I never sailed to Murmansk! God Bless all. Roy Brown
