As I mentioned in another message, the Liberty ship SS JOHN W BROWN, on which I serve as a volunteer crewman, made a ten-day voyage to Providence, Rhode Island. We returned safely Wednesday afternoon.
It was a very successful visit, with a sold-out "Living History Cruise" on Saturday, while several thousand visitors came aboard during our four days at dockside.
On our voyage north we stopped and buried at sea eight of our fellow shipmates, who now rest in peace below the waves.
We encountered a very severe storm during our return trip to Baltimore, with the ship rolling and plunging heavily for nearly 24 hours this past Tuesday. But our old ship was up to the challenge.
Welcome Home Good to have you back glad you had a safe trip. Read the newspaper article and am sure you brought back some good memories as well as bad for this gentleman. Keep up the good work .
