My grandfather was a Captain aboard one of the WWII Merchant Marine Liberty Ships. His name was Kai deVermond and I remember him telling me that the ship was sunk by a German Sub. I am trying to find the name of that ship. I have a bell and Flare gun that he kept.
The bell should have the ship's name. Meantime, Go to GOOGLE and pull up USN ARMED GUARD WW II.
