Looking for ship mates aboard the SS Henry W Grady in 1944. I found a ship log kept by my father Dewey Wilcox he listed many names if you are interested.
I have found three men listed among the members of the Armed Guard Veterans Association who identified themselves as having served aboard SS HENRY W. GRADY and who may have been shipmates of your father:
Jerold H. Landrum (served aboard SS HENRY W. GRADY in 1944)
Myron Lutzkovetz (served aboard SS HENRY W. GRADY, no dates specified)
Robert J. Major (served aboard SS HENRY W. GRADY 9/30/44-12/14/44)
Here is a possible current contact for one of the men:
Myron Lutzkovetz PO Box 228 Lyon Station, PA 19536-0228 (610) 682-2639
The Social Security Death Index (https://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/) has a record for the death of a Jerold H. Landrum on December 4, 2004, last residence Saint Peters, Missouri.
Robert J. Major is too common a name to search.
Since all three men are/were members of the Armed Guard Veterans Association, you may wish to contact C.A. Lloyd, who is Chairman of the organization, to determine whether he knows if the above men are still living and, if so, if he has a current address. Here is contact information for Mr. Lloyd:
C.A. Lloyd, Chairman U.S.N. Armed Guard World War II Veterans Association 115 Wall Creek Drive Rolesville, NC 27571 Telephone: 919-570-0909 E-mail: clloyd@nc.rr.com
Good luck.
