Another Shipmate Gone

With deep regret, I report the death of Calvin V. Cantrill, an Armed Guard veteran, who died the other day at his home in Friday Harbor, Washington. I knew him only through his occasional posts here but, on the strength of the stories he told, I have no doubt that he was not only a good sailor but a good man who was a valued friend of those who knew him. In the war he served with the gun crews of USAT Shawnee and SS Fort Stanwix. RIP, Calvin.

Thanks Fran for the info on Cal and also Ron for the direction to the page for Cal. I did enjoy his comments on this site. My thoughts are with
his family.
