David, I was able to find two records at www.ancestry.com of your father, Robert Leroy Bond, arriving in New York City aboard SS AMERIKI, one arrival on 24 February 1944 from Liverpool, England, from which she had sailed on 7 February; and the second arrival on 28 September 1944, from Cardiff, Wales, from which she had sailed on 11 September. The names of the Armed Guard crew on the voyage arriving 24 February 1944 were as follows: Aroneo, Martin Robert Bahns, John Stewart Barea, Michael Anthony Cullen, Frederick Baines DeWitt, Willie Elliott Driscoll, John Jeremiah Durr, William Joseph Falvey, John Joseph Fitz, David Edward, Jr. Frederick, Frank Joseph Grant, William Robert Hayes, Joe Vance LeCount, John Harold Mancini, Stephen B. McGlothlin, David Josh Medukas, Joseph E. Parker, Billie Mason Patterson, Harold George Peer, Ernest Wesley Reinard, Frederick Albert Shields, Ralph Lawrence Smith, Frank Tetslaff, Clyde Harry Waggoner, Robert Charles Waldstein, Carl A. LT (j.g.), commanding officer Wallace, James Wister Weatherly, James Edward The names of the Armed Guard crew on the voyage arriving 28 September 1944 were as follows: Aroneo, Martin Robert Bahns, John Stewart Barea, Michael Anthony Carter, James Marvin Cheek, Doyle Russell Collins, Daniel Francis, Jr. Cullen, Frederick Baines DeWitt, Willie Elliott Driscoll, John Jeremiah Durr, William Joseph Falvey, John Joseph Fishell, Robert Lyle Fitz, David Edward, Jr. Frederick, Frank Joseph Fuller, James Morton Grant, William Robert Hayes, Joe Vance Lazzara, Russel Anthony LeCount, John Harold McGlothlin, David Josh Parker, Billie Mason Patterson, Harold George Reinard, Frederick Albert Smith, Frank Tyler, Hobart Harold Waggoner, Robert Charles Waldstein, Carl A. LT (j.g.), commanding officer Weatherly, James Edward I have no idea whether any of these men are still living, nor do I have contact information for them. SS AMERIKI was a Liberty ship, built by the New England Shipbuilding Corporation, South Portland, Maine, originally launched 19 September 1943 under the name WILLIAM H TODD, but renamed AMERIKI and given to the Greek government under Lend-Lease. Her civilian merchant marine crew was almost entirely Greek, with her master (captain) on these two voyages being Spyros Theophilatos. A listing of the whereabouts of SS AMERIKI between 2 October 1943 and 21 September 1945 can be found at http://www.convoyweb.org.uk/ports/index.html?search.php?vessel=AMERIKI~armain. SS AMERIKI continued to sail in commercial service under the Greek flag after World War II, was renamed at least once, and was scrapped in Shanghai in 1967. Ron Carlson, Webmaster
