I never had a spring break on a 20mm but broke a firing pin and had a barrel get to hot due to prolong firing without change out. We had several missfires on the 3 inch 50. The gunnery officer and gunners mate did the removal. The hot shell-man on the 3 inch 50 was probably the worst job of all during battle with the ship rolling and pitching. After the first experience
you would just knock them down and get them off the gun deck.
