This really began with a set of photographs that my grandfather took while he was docked in St. Johns, Newfoundland after his shipped collided with another ship.
Apparently, the SS William Grayson, which is the ship depicted in the photographs, was involved in a collision during Convoy HX.293. I am unsure of the other ship, but the Grayson had to divert and repair the hull before continuing on. My grandfather grabbed a camera and snapped a roll and had it developed in St. Johns.
From the pages you sent me from warsailors.com, there were two other ships that also experienced collisions during that convoy. My next project is to figure out whether it was the SS William Ashley or the SS Riverview Park (or both!) that collided with the Grayson.
Thanks for starting me on the journey!
