I found your message by chance when looking through older postings on this message board and discovered that I had never seen yours or attempted to respond to it. I have found the following information for Catherine Flynn on her arrival in New York aboard the ship MARINE FALCON.
The ship had earlier left New York on or about November 28, 1947, and proceeded to sail to Le Havre, France, and then Southampton, England, before arriving at Cobh, Ireland. The ship departed Cobh on December 11, 1947, and arrived in New York on December 20 or 21, 1947.
MARINE FALCON carried a crew of 240 including the captain, Harry L. Hanson, age 38, with 22 years of sea experience. She carried at least 680 passengers, including 498 aliens and 182 U.S. citizens.
Among the alien passengers was Catherine Flynn, female, single, age 22 (presumably as of the beginning of the voyage), occupation listed as “domestic,” therefore a maid or other servant when last living in Ireland. Her birthplace was listed as Ballinlough, Ireland, and she carried passport QV4018, issued in Dublin on October 30, 1947. Her last permanent residence was Ballinlough and her nearest relative there was her father, Michael Flynn, address Cloncoln (or Cloncoin), Ballinlough, Ireland.
(According to Wikipedia, Ballinlough is a neighborhood on the south side of Cork, Ireland.)
She had paid for her ticket herself and she arrived with at least $50 in her possession. Catherine’s destination was St. Louis, Missouri, to join her aunt, Mrs. M. Ganley, address 5030 Wabada Avenue (possible spelling), St. Louis.
To a series of routine questions, Catherine apparently stated that she did not intend to return to Ireland, intended to remain permanently in the U.S., and intended to become a U.S. citizen. She said she had not been in prison, was not a polygamist, was not an anarchist, and did not advocate the overthrow of the United States government. She had not been excluded or deported from the U.S. in the preceding year and had not previously arrived in and departed from the United States. She was in good health, had no deformities, was 5’5” tall, fair complexion, brown hair and blue eyes and had no other identifying marks.
I hope you find this useful.
