My name is Mick Stewart and I am the Drum Major of the Lost Battalions Pipe Band. We are a new Scottish bagpipe and drum band formed in Houston, Texas with the express purpose of remembering the service and sacrifice of U.S. and British Armed Forces veterans who fought in the South Pacific and Far East during the Second World War (1939-45), including those taken prisoner by the Japanese.
The name of our band is taken from U.S. and British veterans who fought during the war, cut off, fighting the Japanese post-Pearl Harbor in small unit actions to delay the inevitable: the battle of Java Sea, the fight for Singapore and Malaya, the fighting in Burma, Correigador, Bataan, the naval personal who served aboard transport vessels, armed guard, armed trawlers, destroyers, aircraft carriers --- and fought back. The stories of these men will be told in our music, our dress and our deportment on parade.
