As you can appreciate, most of the men of the Armed Guard are no longer with us, and of those who are still around, only a faithful few are likely to read this message board. I see you have received two responses so far from readers, which I hope will be helpful to you.
In addition, you may wish to search the Armed Guard website, starting at this page: http://armed-guard.com/search-new.html. I just did so and came up with 90 hits within the website. Some of these may prove to be of little or no consequence but others may be written recollections of Murmansk run veterans from which you may be able to extract useful information. There may also be links to books and magazine and newspaper articles.
Similarly, a Google search of the website American Merchant Marine at War (www.usmm.org) may prove fruitful. A Google search I just made found 66 hits on that website, some of which will be more useful than others of course. Whatever you find on this website may have more of the merchant marine perspective rather than that of the Armed Guard, but all of them were literally in the same boat.
Good luck.
