Yes, Bob, I remember very well. The SS Eldena, position #13 left rear in the coffin corner of Convoy PQ-13 March 1942 to Murmansk. We had a WWI 4"50 on the stern, no other big guns, 4 50cal and 4 pan-fed Lewis 30cal. That was it. No 20mm or 3"50 AA guns. We had ditty bags, clothes stops, rolled clothes in the sea bag and a hammock. Our ninety day wonder, Ens. Fink, was a former mortician. I remember the cold, the Arctic storms, the ice laden ship and the ice floes we had to plow through, the Wolf packs and air raids.
