My father, James "Jimmy" L. Spence, served and died aboard the SS Gilbert Stuart. He died and was buried at sea in January of 1945. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who also sailed on the Gilbert Stuart during this time and possibly knew my father. He had previously served for a few months on the SS George M. Bibb. Perhaps someone reading these postings knew him there.
