My poor memory believes that the sidearm I carried from time to time was a .45 cal semi-automatic.
I fired it several times at various targets at sea but either it, or I, was not too accurate. I had difficulty hitting an empty oil drum not too far away and I'm a pretty good shot.
I served 11 years in the Indiana Guard Reserve after my Navy service, retiring from that as a Lieutant Colonel. I qualified as Expert with an M-16, but only Marksman with the handgun.
Since my eyes were operated on in the fall of
2007 my eyes are 20-20 but I've not been able to get out to do any target practice!
