SS JOHN RUTLEDGE was built in 62 days by the Kaiser Permanente Shipyard #1 in Richmond, CA. Her keel was laid August 22, 1942, she was launched September 29, and she was completed and delivered for service on October 23. She was scrapped in Portland, OR, in 1966.
See this list of sources of photographs of World War II-era merchant ships: http://www.usmm.org/photosource.html. Mr. Hultgren is a particularly good source for photographs of Liberty ships, which is his specialty. I know enough about his collection to know that he apparently has a photograph of JOHN RUTLEDGE. Mr. Hultgren is quite elderly but at last report was still actively managing his collection.
Good luck.
