Man seems to be driven by a conviction that big is better, giving us bigger ships, bigger airplanes, bigger trucks, bigger mistakes. The consequences are incalculable. Profit margins may be clear enough, but has anyone reckoned the cost in terms of the damage we're doing to the earth? We have only the one, yet we seem to be determined to wreck it.
