My father Theodore M Curcio (Ted) served in the Armed Guard, sailing out the Armed Guard Center, Pacific; on the following T-2 Tankers:
SS Meacham 23 Jan 1944-18 Jan 1945
SS Chemawa 2 Jun 1945-13 Oct 1945
While going through his Navy paper work, I ran across a card which all Sailors were required to carry while in uniform, if on Leave of Liberty. It listed his awards and was signed by an officer at the AGC Pacific. The last line, above the signature of the officer lists “3 Bronze Stars”.
These are not to be confused with “Battle Stars”, as on his discharge certificate, his Asiatic-Pacific list w/ two stars.
If anybody recalls him or any “scuttle butt” or any stories, I would be interested in hearing from. Please email at eco6@comcast.net.
