keith,a friend was helping me to find anything to do with (BP15-1).i was a L.C.M. Coxswain attatched to that boat pool in 1945-46.i wonder what your affiliation was there.i enlisted in the Navy took boots at Sampson,N.Y.JAN.45.took navy troop train to Camp Shuemaker, left there for Treasure Island,and met the survivors of the (Indy). also while on (T.I)previously we watched Alcatraz go up in flames, when the prisoners set it on fire.caught.(A.P.A.U.S.S Sibley) to Ulithi,Enewitok,Samar. L.S.T. TO some unknown island. then a L.C.I. to tacloban on Leyte. later we went on to Cavite,and while there they asked for volunteers for the boat pool duty. which i was the 1st. to do so. Year later went aboard Admiral Kauffmans yacht,great duty.we had the honour of having General Eisenhower aboard,took him and his staff to Corrigidor, and surrounding area.left Manila in June of 46.for subic Bay, boarded the Winged Arrow, stopped at samar, picked up more navy guys and headed back to Treasure Island.then Navy troop train back to Bainbridge,Md. for discharge. lastly my brother Rocco, was in the Armed Guard since 43.,made many convoy trips across the atlantic.he was proud of the Armed guard duty, sadly my brother passed away several monts ago.he truly was a nice guy..thanks for serving,it sure was an experience of a life time.i live in Reading,Pa.wish you and your family all the best.Louis DeAngelo
