SS CAPE FAIR WEATHER and SS CAPE CATOCHE were not Victory ships, rather they were class C-1 cargo ships. (See a list of all C-1 vessels and details about their construction and fate at http://shipbuildinghistory.com/history/merchantships/wwii/c1cargoships.htm.) Victory ships, during World War II, all included the word "Victory" in their names, such as SS LANE VICTORY, to name one Victory ship that is still operating. Line drawings, but not photographs, of the profiles of C-1 vessels, including representatives of the two in which you sailed, are at http://drawings.usmaritimecommission.de/drawings_c1.htm. Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_C1_ship for information on C-1 vessels and two photographs.
Typical photographs of a Liberty ship (SS JEREMIAH O'BRIEN in San Francisco, still in operating condition) are at http://www.ssjeremiahobrien.org/GALLERIES/Atsea/index.html.
Photographs of LANE VICTORY are available at http://www.lanevictory.org/laneV_photo.php.
