However we DID zig-zag as a convoy more than one time.
I can recall when, during a very heavy air attack we zig-zagged, (as a convoy), and it was VERY, VERY dark. We used our "Christmas Tree" lights for the signal to execute the manuever. It was really something to take part in. There were NO collisions. The convoy consisted of more than 65 ships of various types, many of which were Liberty ships.
We first turned 45 degrees to Port then 45 degrees to Starboard. Whether this confused the attacking planes I don't know.
