Thanks Fran, for that outstanding quote from John Sandford's "Its a Beautiful Country" It so appropriate for July 4th.
I, too, have seen a lot of the world in addition to my WWII experiences in the Armed Guard and in Naval Aviation. I lived in Lebanon for 4 years flying an FAA Flight Inspection DC3 all over Africa and the Middle East. With my young family we made a camping vacation through out Syria, Turkey and Greece following the Missionary journeys of St. Paul. We lived 4 years in the Washington DC area before moving to Alaska for 36 years. My last 2 years with FAA before retiring was in Japan, heading up flight operations that took me all over the Far East. In 1963 my wife and I took a 3 months around the world vacation.
We have seen many beautiful countries, many diverse cultures and types of governments, but NONE of them can compare to the United States of America. I am so thankful and proud to be an American.
