Well Bob you are getting responses on this and lots of readers. This is a hard one to answer without getting some p.o.
I have medicare, which is socialize medicine, with a supplement ins. which includes precription
drugs. The supplement ins. is still under the control of medicare of what they approve. My supplement ins. is $240 per month and Chevron kicks in $70 of it. Out of my Soc. Sec. check each month they take $96 to pay for medicare Part
B. (note this is on a sliding scale based on Ind. Tax Return) This makes my out of pocket medical ins. $266 per month. Part A is all ready paid for when you paid Soc.Sec. taxes. I can handle this so far.(Here's what Part A would cost
you if you paid no Soc. Sec. taxes. $443 per month.) My children are paying $1200 and $1400 per month to cover their families which are HMO"s
Ins. with high deductions. A friend of mine lost his business. Couldn't pay his medical ins. His wife and him have medical problems and have had to go to the local hospital for all treatment. Now have huge over inflated bills. Have had to bare their souls to reduce these bills they can not pay. A woman friend of mine broke her wrist.
Which required surgery to put it back together. She had dropped her insurance by accident. Time period was critical. She had the cash to pay for
it. The local surgeons wouldn't touch it. At first they told her they would give her a date after they saw the xrays. But when she told them she had no insurance and would pay cash and would
pay them up front. They were filled up and no available dates. The local Doctors office finally
found a surgeon who would put her wrist back together. By this time her wrist was healing crooked. This was a case where they would prefer to deal with insurance then with some individual
with cash. The medical costs have soared out of sight. Medicare needs an overhaul. Private Ins. costs are soaring so the average person can not afford it. Gov. needs to set some controls on them. Like prexisting problems when you have to change insurance. This also needs an overhaul.
The town hall meetings are being turned into a
disaster. I swear that I saw the same rowdy woman
at the meeting in Oregon the other day and yesterday she was at the one in Miami shouting and screaming. No doubt this disruption is being paid for. All our problems that we and other nations are in now is caused by greed. Greed promotes regulations. I hope Congress can get something worked out that makes sense and don't put us further in the hole.
By the way Fran we have cooled down to the mid nineites. But we have something like 800 fires going most caused by lightning. Some called it dry lightning.
