The Social Security Death Index (http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/) has a record of an Amos Tiger (no middle initial indicated), born 24 June 1931, who died 11 December 1999, while residing in Dumas, Texas. Dumas is in northwest Texas, not far from Oklahoma. The Social Security Number for this Amos Tiger was 442-30-2148 and it was issued in Oklahoma. Tiger seems to be a somewhat common name in Oklahoma.
An obituary for this man is found at http://files.usgwarchives.net/tx/potter/obits/1999/16dec99.txt. However he is described as an Army veteran, not a veteran of the Navy.
There is a reference to an Amos Tiger (again no middle initial indicated) at http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/e/a/Jennifer-L-Beam/GENE1-0012.html. This Amos Tiger was born in Oklahoma in 1930, married a Joan Haskin in 1954 in Maryland. He died in 1993 in Washington, D.C., described as a retired U.S. Navy veteran and a retired U.S. Postal Service employee. Six children are listed, born between 1954 and 1972. Scroll down to item #62.
