Some have complained here that the Armed Guard has never received proper recognition. Be it known that a decade ago the governor of California proclaimed May 19 "United States Naval Armed Guard Day" in California. As far as I know, it has not become an occasion for parades and televised speeches. But there it is. Thank Gray Davis, who was governor at the time, in 1999.
