I don't think there should be any requirements other than those outlined by the Constitution.
HOWEVER, I DO wish the voters in the USA would CAREFULLY follow and study the backgrounds, education, experiences, history, AND COMPLETE RESUME' of every candidate BEFORE they vote.
Voting simply because of emotions is a huge mistake.
Sence the No.1 responsibility of the CinC is the PROTECTION of our citizens I DO belive military service, or some acquired knowledge of such, would be a great asset.
I also agree with Fran that there should be, perhaps two years, of some kind of Universl Service required of every American at age 18 or just after High School.
ALMOST every person can perform SOME kind of helpful service to our nation. Blind, deaf, most crippled, etc. persons would probably be DELIGHTED to be allowed to perform such service.
I can think of MANY job descriptions such citizens could fill.
For years we have been on a downhill slide in our schools. We do NOT ask enough from our students. It is ridiculous to have "games" where no one is allowed to WIN. It is stupid to pretend that EVERYONE is on an equal plane. It is crazy to not allow anyone to fail...then start again!.
I hope our nation can once again set our sights much higher so we can hit a target with much higher number in the ring.
May God help us become a better nation. And may HE protect and give courage to the brave military forces we have today. They need our constant support.
