Can Someone help me with some info I am trying to research? My father Ernest F. Hillman JR BM2c (I have no idea) anyway i remember him telling me when the ship he was on (an Armed Merchant Vessel I believe) was coming into Boston Harbor it collided with a tanker I think. This would have had to be around the 13 of April 1945 that is when his VA records record him being transfered to US Naval hospital Newport RI. I think the last two ships he was on was the SS MANGORE at the time of the collision i think and the SS ANDREW J. NEWBURY just before. Can anyone tell me anything about this? i am trying to do a family history for his grand children he passed away Dec 26 1990 of pancreatic cancer. He didn't talk much about it after the grandchildren came along. it is so important to me that his grand children are as proud of him as I am
