I believe we are talking about two different ships here. The USS Coronado (PF-38), a patrol frigate, served in World War II as a convoy escort. She was launched in June 1943 at the Consolidated Steel Corporation, Wilmington, California, decommissioned in July 1945 and was named after a city in California. The S.S. Francisco Coronado was a Liberty ship, built in 1943 at the Kaiser Company shipyards in Vancouver, Washington, scrapped in 1962, and named after the explorer Francisco Vásquez de Coronado.
