Looking for information - SS Flight Command / SS Francisco Coronado

Good evening,

My name is Kristen, and I have recently received my uncle's military record from the NPRC in St. Louis. This was very important to me, as I serve our country as a federal law enforcement officer, and wanted to piece together his WWII service record, and re-obtain his burial flag (passed away in 1968), and medals and insignia for a medal display case I am putting together in his memory. My uncle's name was GEORGE SOWIENSKI, and he served as U.S. Navy Armed Guard (S1c) Pointer/Gunner aboard the SS FLIGHT COMMAND (Normandy) and the SS FRANCISCO CORONADO (Pacific Theatre). Does anyone out there possibly recognize my uncle's name from photos, stories, commerative graduation books, or have photos of the ships on which he served?

This is a WONDERFUL site and I'm thankful for any and all information provided!!!
