Boat Pools were sometimes called "water taxi's". These were small boat groups that were assigned to service the larger ship's while they were in port. The boat pool was responsible for bringing supplies to the ships, transporting men to and from the ships, etc. I don't have any specific information on pool 15-1, but 1945 was a very critical time for US forces in the PI, as it represented the re-taking of the islands from the Japanese.
