Posted by Ron Carlson This is your webmaster checking in to say my family and I returned home from the BROWN's cruise several days ago. We have been laying low, resting up and slowly getting back into the swing of things. I'm pleased to see that the web site is still here and the message board is free of spam so all seems to be well. My thanks to Tom for keeping an eye on things while I was away. We had a great time on the cruise. While in port I spent a lot of time each day assigned to a docent position in the tween deck area of the ship, answering questions and guiding people around. Nearly 14,000 people came aboard at the three ports we visited, with about 2,400 on the busiest day. I met a lot of AG and merchant marine vets as they came through and I could tell many of them were deeply moved to be aboard the ship. They were all so appreciative and pleased. I remember one former AG in particular, who related some of his personal stories to me with tears in his eyes, and I had a few of my own by the time he finished. Many other younger guests mentioned that a father or grandfather or an uncle had been with the AG or merchant marine and they wanted so much to see a ship such as their loved one had served on. They too were so very thankful. In all it was a wonderful experience for me and my family. While at sea we conducted burials of the remains of six individuals, at least one of whom was an AG vet. Rest in peace. My son and daughter took approximately one gazillion pictures during the trip, and we are only starting to sort through them. In time I will upload some of them to the Armed Guard site or the Project Liberty Ship site. In the meantime, some of our visitors took pictures and have already placed them on other websites. Now back to real life... Ron Carlson
