Oil pressure

Hi my name is David. I have a 1984 944. I am wondering if I could ask you a quick question. Is there a check valve incorporated into the oiling system on one of these cars? The filter or maybe somewhere else? The previous owner said he put oil stop leak in the engine and a few days later the oil pressure started taking a couple of seconds to go up from 0 when first started. Then after another few days he went to start it up and never got any oil pressure. Check valve glued shut?
