Accelerator pedal stays to the floor

Hi, my 87 944 turbo Accelerator pedal stays to floor and doesn’t spring back up into place!? Hence jammed on full revs.
Accelerator cable doesn’t seem broken, the spring on the actual pedal is intact, anybody know what could be wrong?
