I am having some problems starting my 1987 na too. I have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, and I had my DME relay tested and it is good.I have now been told that the problem might be with my flywheel sensors. They are on the drivers side,on the clutch housing.Right up next to the body.In the Haynes 944 Porsche manual,1983 thru 1989 calls it the engine speed sensor page 136. I cant get any fuel to the fuel rail.I havent had the chance to test mine to see if this is the problem. Good luck.
: Hey put in a replacement DME and it still did
: not start? Did he also replace the DME
: relay?
:
: Frequently that is the failure not the DME
: itself... though they also fail.

: My 1983 won't start. I took it to a
: reputable
: Porsche Mechanic, he tested the DME, says
: that it is bad and that with a good dme in
: the car it still cranks without
: starting, apparently he had an extra. He
: isn't
: sure what is wrong, has anyone else had a
: similar situation? I owe him $200 for
: diagnostic, and I don't even know what the
: problem is yet!
