Perhaps the starter is turning the engine
backwards. I got a starter on ebay for my 924,
advertised as for the porsche or some Audi car.
It looked the same, and fit, but it cranked the
engine the wrong way. If this is the problem,
the tail pipe will suck air while cranking.
