I went to start my 1987 924S today and while the started was cranking I accidentally let go of the key before it actually started the engine. oops, well no big deal right? well now the electric motor in my starter is in a permanent state of spin. Turning the key again does nothing, the electric motor continues to spin but the starter doesnt engage the engine. Taking the key out also doesnt stop the motor from spinning. So I disconnected my battery hoping that the starter would reset itself somehow. But as soon as I reconnected the battery, the motor started to spin again, but still didn't engage the engine.
My guess is that my starter is busted, but I just replaced the started 8 months ago, so Im wondering if there is an electrical problem somewhere. Anyone have any ideas?
