Sounds more like an engine mount if the engine shakes. Maybe that the transmission helps to settle it all down when engaged.
Then again...Shaking could be caused due to a bad clutch. My friends 944S2 shook some thing fierce when downshifting... but sounds to me like yours does it at rest?
Post a message on 924.org. There are a lot more guys on there that might just have come across this kind of thing.
