I am having the EXACT same problem. And the same things were done. Did you get the car fixed, if so what was the problem? Thanks!

: I have a 1985, late model, porsche 944 which
: has been sitting for a few years. A new
: battery was installed and when turn the key
: the car just makes a clicking sound. I
: brought the starter to a shop, had a new
: solenoid installed. The starter works fine
: when I put jumpers to it, but when installed
: just a clicking sound. What can I do to fix
: this problem and make the car turn over (and
: no the car is no siezed, )?

: Sounds to me like a "grounding"
: fault..
: Check the grounds of your battery for
: corrossion, (with that I mean the negative
: pole of your battery to the car's body) also
: check the grounding cable from your starter
: to your car's body, and perhaps the new
: battery installed is just not
: "beefy" enough, install at least a
: battery of 45 ah.
:
: Succes with the starting problem..
