My great-great grandfather, Henry Marsh (1826-1912), was considered one of the 19th century masters of wood engraving, best known for his engravings of moths and butterflies in Thaddeus Harris’ 1862 edition of “Treatise on Some Insects Injurious to Vegetation”. He was a bit of a mystery man, and disappeared from his Boston home and family for the last 25 years of his life, dying in NY City. I find it hard to believe that there are no photographs or drawings of him, yet 40 years of searching has produced none. There must be some somewhere. I would be most grateful for any leads.
