I have 22 yr old yna,very,very aggressive. I have had him now for a year. I did some research on his history. he was a very much loved pet for the first few years of his life,but when he became hormonal the owners became afraid of him and sold him. he stayed in this home a very short while and was then sold to a breeder.He was there until the breeder went out of business and i now have him. he does now allow me to give him head scritches thru the bars of his cage (a BIG accomplishment ).When I have tried to handle him he has nailed me good on several occasions and refuses to be handled. I bought gloves to attempt to handle him but they appear to frighten him even more.
this guy has gotten to my heart for some reason.He talks up a storm, and greets me with more joy and happy sounds than any of my others do. i know he really wants to trust me, i can see it in his eyes,but he will get scared. i use a stick to get him out of his cage, all he wants to do is go to my Blue crown conures cage and stay on top of it clucking away with the conure.
i am about to wits end with this guy. i feel like there is something i am not doing that I should be. Any suggestions will be appreciated .
